Animal tracks

For science lab last week, we listened to a PowerPoint all about animal tracks. This fits perfectly with our wild winter and with our new theme of the Ice Age! We learned all about different animal tracks and how scientists use these footprints to follow animals and study them. Different animals make different prints, and trackers examine the amount of toes, the claws, the space betweent the prints, and many other factors to tell what kind of animal made the tracks.

For this science lab, we became trackers! We used plastic animals and made their footprints in some "snow," which was really clay. We then had to guess which animal made which tracks.
