The Three Little Pigs

This week we started our study of fairy tales beginning with The Three Little Pigs. Each day, we will read this same story, looking through the lense of different comprehension strategies. On Monday! we used the visualization card and practiced making pictures of the story in our mind. Today, we used character empathy and thought about how the characters felt throughout the story. We practice saying the words that the pigs and the wolf are saying, and we even add sound effects as we read.

On Monday of each fairy tale week, we spend center time making props to use for the rest if the week. Can you tell what kinds of houses we are making in each picture?

Our class pet

We have a very exciting new addition to our class...a class pet fish! On Friday, we read a book called "What's it like to be a fish?" And we observed him in his tank as he swam around and ate some food. When we looked closely, we saw a little white patch on one of his fins. We learned what it means to make an observation of something, and we each drew a picture of our fish. We will name him next week!

Incredible Me!

In the spirit of building our classroom community and learning about each other, we read a book called "Incredible Me!" It was all about different things a little girl loves about herself, and how she is very special. We talked about what makes us special and even shared something we loved about ourselves. We then made crafts of ourselves to hang in our classroom!
